Sam Vona, EA

Sam Vona is a graduate of Long Island University and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.  Before founding Vona & Company in 1970, Sam was a senior auditor for the New York State Income Tax Authority for over ten years specializing in Income and Sales tax audits.

Sam has been servicing all types of small and medium size business in all areas of taxation and accounting in the tri-state area for over 30 years.   He has successfully represented many businesses and individual clients before the Internal Revenue Service, New York State, New York City, and New Jersey tax authorities. In addition to providing traditional accounting and tax services, Sam also acts as a business consultant and advisor on a variety of business issues including financing, expansion, and corporate formation and structure.  Sam is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and National Society of Public Accountants.

 

Robert C. Vona, CPA, MBA, EA

Robert Vona has a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in accounting from New York University and an MBA in Finance from Fordham University.  Robert is a Certified Public Accountant and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to joining Vona & Vona,  Robert was a senior tax associate at the big four accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, legacy Coopers & Lybrand, LLP, where he specialized in the taxation of medium and large size corporations, partnerships, and financial instruments.  Robert was also involved in various aspects of financial statement preparation and analysis.

At Vona & Vona, Robert services corporate and individual clients in all aspects of accounting and tax services.  In addition, Robert advises on various estate and gift tax planning and compliance.  Robert also provides financial forecasts, projections, transactional tax planning and consulting to expanding businesses and individuals.  Robert is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners.

 

Agostino Vona, CPA, MBA, EA

Agostino Vona has a BBA in accounting from Hofstra University and graduated magna cum laude from St. John's University with an MBA in taxation. For nearly 15 years, Agostino has been specializing in the accounting and taxation of businesses and individuals.  He has successfully represented many clients on a variety of sales, income, payroll, and individual tax audits.  Agostino also specializes in setting up accounting systems to provide timely and accurate financial information to his clients.

Agostino also works extensively in providing operational consulting, contract management and bid consulting for expanding businesses.  He has also given guidance to businesses transferring ownership to the next family generation. Agostino is a Certified Public Accountant and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.

 

Maria L. Vona, CPA

Maria Vona is a Certified Public Accountant and a cum laude graduate of St. John's University where she earned her BS degree in Accounting.  Prior to joining Vona & Vona, Maria had over five years of experience as a senior auditor at the big six accounting firm of Ernst & Young, LLP where she specialized in all areas of auditing and financial statements.  At Ernst & Young, Maria worked on a variety of large clients concentrating primarily on the financial services industry.

At Vona & Vona, Maria specializes in all aspects of financial statement presentation.  Maria has successfully obtained financing for a wide range of clients by providing the necessary financial statements and information to various lending institutions.  Maria also specializes in preparing personal financial statements for individuals.  Maria is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Joseph Vona, Esq.

Joseph earned a JD degree from St. John's University School of Law and a BS in accounting from the University at Albany.    Prior to joining Vona & Vona, Joseph was an associate in the state and local tax group at Grant Thornton, LLP where his responsibilities included state and local tax planning, research, audit defense, and due diligence for large corporations.  Joseph also spent over 2 years as an associate at a well-established Long Island Law firm, where he managed the firm’s real estate practice group, which represented individuals in the purchase and the sale of residential and commercial property.  Joseph also has experience in estate planning, estate administration, and corporate consultations and transactions.  In addition to his work at Vona & Vona, Joseph has established the law firm of Joseph S. Vona, P.C. where Joseph and his staff represents and counsels individuals, partnerships, business corporations, lending institutions and fiduciaries in various legal matters.
