Sam Vona

Sam Vona brings to our clients over forty years of experience servicing local business owners and individuals. He has successfully represented many businesses and individual clients before the Internal Revenue Service, New York State, New York City, and New Jersey taxing authorities. In addition to providing traditional accounting and tax services, Sam acts as a business consultant and tax advisor on a variety of business issues including financing, expansion and corporate structure. Sam is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and National Society of Public Accountants.

Sam is a graduate of Long Island University and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Sam has been practicing in all areas of taxation and accounting relating to a wide range of businesses for over thirty years. Before founding Vona & Company in 1974 Sam was a senior auditor for the New York State Income Tax Authority specializing in income and sales tax audits.

Robert C. Vona

Robert Vona, managing partner of the firm, is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Robert currently heads the tax practice at the firm and specializes in all aspects of tax compliance and planning for individuals, corporations and partnerships. Robert focuses on innovative and sophisticated planning for business' and their individual owners, including specialty CFO services. With over fifteen years experience in federal and multistate tax regulations Robert provides a broad array of sound business advice to our diverse client base.

Robert has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from New York University and Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham University. Robert began his career as a senior tax associate with Coopers and Lybrand LLP where he specialized in the taxation of medium and large size businesses, partnerships, and financial instruments. Robert also has experience in various aspects of financial statement preparation and analysis. Robert is a member of the National Association of Tax Practicioners.

Agostino Vona

Agostino Vona is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York and enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Agostino provides accounting and operational advisory services to our clients in the areas of real estate, investment partnerships and transportation entities. In addition to business planning, Agostino works with clients to plan and provide solutions to address a wide range of needs including succession planning, business growth and expansion.

Agostino has a BBA in accounting from Hofstra University and a Masters of Business Administration in Taxation from St. John’s University. Agostino has been practicing for over twenty years specializing in the accounting and taxation of business’ and individuals. He has successfully represented many clients on a variety of sales, income, payroll, and individual tax audits.

Joseph S. Vona

Joseph Vona earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Albany State University of New York and thereafter earned his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1999. Joseph specializes in representing our clients in estate tax planning, business succession planning and other general tax planning and controversy. Joseph represents executors and fiduciaries in all aspects of estate accounting including the preparation of income and estate tax returns and the preparation of fiduciary accounting.

Maria L. Vona

Maria Vona is a Certified Public Accountant in New York. Maria specializes in all aspects of accounting and financial statement preparation. Maria has successfully assisted many clients in obtaining financing by providing the necessary financial statements and information to various lending institutions. Maria also specializes in specialty business reporting, accounting systems and the preparation of personal financial statements. Maria works extensively with closely held business to assist in tax planning and cost saving measures.

Maria graduated from St. John’s University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting cum laude. Maria began her career at Ernst & Young LLP where she specialized in all areas of auditing and financial statements. At Ernst & Young LLP, Maria worked on a variety of large clients concentrating primarily in the financial services industry.

Elaine Cheung

Elaine Cheung is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Elaine manages a wide range of multi level tax compliance for individuals and businesses' including client representation before taxing authorities. Elaine manages the accounting staff at the firm in providing the highest level of tax accounting and bookkeeping services to our clients. Elaine advises clients on various accounting and tax matters and planning opportunities.

Elaine graduated from Baruch College cum laude. Elaine spent five years focusing on tax compliance for individuals, Estates, and Trusts for a law firm on Long Island. Elaine also worked in the tax department of TAG Associates, LLC preparing complex tax returns and handling tax compliance issues for affluent individuals. Elaine is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals.
